Fun Friday

Reading...It is one of my favorite hobbies.  From time to time I would like to share about a good book.

I recently read a very good book called Jessie Wells.  I had to write a book report on it for school.  I thought I would share part of it with you, so you can know a little bit about the book.

Jessie Wells

Jessie Wells was written by Isabella Alden in 1866.  When Jessie seeks God, trials and many hardships come up.  She tries to do what is right, but finds it very hard to do.  She has many decisions to make and seeks help from her pastor and his wife.  Once she finally becomes faithful to Bible reading, prayer, and church, she finds it is much easier to do right.  She is the only person in her family who is saved.  Jessie has an older brother who has gone down a terrible road in his life. Will she be able to help him?  When her younger sister becomes very ill, Jessie's heart changes and she realizes the urgency of being a better witness.  I don't want to say too much about what happens in case you want to read it.

I highly recommend this book because it is about a Christian girl.  Books about Christians are the best because we can ALWAYS learn something good from them!  The story of Jessie can greatly encourage any reader in their relationship with God and with others.  The author, Isabella Alden, does a great job with this in all of her books.

You can find this book at keepersofthefaith.com.

Have a great weekend.

California

My family and I went to San Diego, California this summer to visit my uncle, cousin, and some other family.  We had so much fun!  Here are some pictures.

Uncle David, Dougie and I  ( one night we had a beach bonfire and that's
                                         where this picture was taken)

Uncle David and my cousin, Nathan!

While we were there we went to a place called Palm Srings.  It is in the desert, so it is very hot.  It was around 110 degrees while we were there, so we spent a lot of time swimming!

                                         It is so beautiful!

Another thing we did was watch my cousin, Nathan's, basketall game!  He played great!  ( I can't figure out how to turn this one around.  Sorry.)  He is number 35.

It was a great trip!

Hummingbird

I recently made a cross stitched hummingbird wall hanging for my friend's birthday.  The lady I made it for is my Pastor's mom, Mrs. Knox.  She faithfully comes to church and always has a smile on her face!  She also does much work in the tape room at church.  The tape room is where all of our pastor's recorded messages are kept.  She keeps them organized, puts labels on all the tapes and cd's, and packages them, along with books and Bibles, to be mailed.  She is very hard working.  She is in her mid to late 80's and has faithfully served the Lord in this way for a very long time.  We have sat next to her in church for years!

Mrs. Knox loves birds.  She and my brother share that in common.  She often brings Dougie bird magazines.  Since her favorite bird is the hummingbird, I decided to make her this for her birthday.

I got the pattern from sewingseed.com and the idea to wrap the hoop in fabric from littleloveliesbyallison.com

Have a great rest of the week! :)

Fun Friday

These are my embroidery scissors.

I love them.  They work great!  They are sharp and pointy, so they can get into little areas and snip threads!

They are perfect for cross stitching and embroidery.

I also love the Stork shape.

If your scissors are kind of dull or too big to get into little spaces, then I suggest you get some of these.  Just google " stork scissors" to find out where you can get them.

Happy Friday everyone!

The Story Behind This Blog

I started this blog with the help of my friend, Miss Lauren, whom I have known since I was 3 years old.  She has been most helpful in so many ways.  Most importantly she has set a great example for me.  I am so thankful for her.  I hope to grow up to be just like her.  She has two blogs I really enjoy reading-        raisingmytwogirls.blogspot.com          daisycottagedesigns.blogspot.com.

I started this blog to share about the things I make.  I enjoy sewing, crochet, knitting, and cross stitch.  Occasinally I will also post about other things.  I'm excited to get started and will hopefully post about a project soon.

I hope you enjoy it!
