Doing What I Love.

Photo

The above picture says it all. I'm at the table with my hooks and some yarn allll the time....and I love it!!!! I am so glad I learned at a young age to do something that I have grown to love so much!!

Recently a lady contacted me and said that she would like a blanket and a hat for her great niece that was just born.... Perfect!! A chance to make some money and a chance to do what I love!! The colors she picked were green, yellow, and white...soft colors.

I was to choose the pattern for the blanket, so I chose this beautiful granny square one for a sweet little girl!!! :)

To finish it off I added this sweet picot edging...love this edge!! =)

This hat pattern is so simple, yet so pretty!!!

While I was working on the blanket and hat, I got a text from a friend that used to live in our neighborhood and recently moved. She wanted an owl hat for her little girl!!! The colors she chose were bright and very fun for a little girl!! Purple and neon pink with a lime green flower!!!

Looking forward to sharing with you all the next project that I have going on my hooks!! Stay tuned! :)

A Special Award.

Photo

This is my Uncle David. He lives in Carlsbad, California. I wish he didn't live so far away...He is so much fun to be around. I miss the times we have had together!!

Uncle David is the superintendent of a school district near San Diego. He takes his job very seriously... He loves the kids, works hard, is very caring and compassionate, and wants to see all the students succeed. Here is an example of his love for the kids in his schools....
He goes to all the schools in his district, ALL the schools, hangs out in the cafeterias, and gets to know each student and their name. Now, if that doesn't show his love for the students, then I don't know what does!!!

He has a lot of Spanish speaking students in his school district, so he spent last summer in Mexico learning Spanish in order to communicate better with those students...
Another great example of how seriously he takes his job!!!!

Now...Onto the big news!!
Last spring Uncle David won a very special award. He won "Superintendent of the Year"!!! That, my friends, is a big award!! To be the superintendent of the year is a big accomplishment and a big compliment to my uncle, I'd say!!!!

Below are some pictures from when he received his award.

Based on the things I said previously, this is obviously something my uncle greatly deserved!!! I am so happy for him. He is such a good uncle, dad, brother to my dad, and everything else!!!!

I mentioned earlier in my post that he is funny. Here is a picture to justify that statement. ;)

Oh, yes!! Dressed as George Washington...love it, Uncle David!!!! ;) ;) ;)

I am so happy for my uncle and I know that he will keep up with his wonderful work in his schools. :)
Now for memories sake, I will leave you with a few pictures of my family with my uncle from when we went to California to see him a couple of years ago! Enjoy!!!!!

Another Preemie Hat!

Photo

It's never a good thing to be making a preemie hat. It means some little baby was born too early and needs to be kept very warm. But, in spite of that thought, I love seeing the finished product for a sweet little baby!! This one is for a friend's little nephew...the cutest and sweetest little boy!! Praying for him everyday that God will work in his little life!!

Quick Post.

This blog has been quite neglected for the past months. I always think, "What's the point of doing it now?"  But, I really do enjoy it; so when I have the time, I am going to post! :) We'll see how this goes....

August was a very busy month for our family. First, we had VBS at church. I always love getting to help out and meet all the little kids that come for that! So fun!! :)

Photo
With my buddy at VBS!!!!

After VBS these girls came from a visit!! A great time was had by all, and we are counting down the days until we get to see each other again!!

Photo

The last few days of their visit Abby flew in. It was so good to see her once again!!!

Photo
So thankful for her!!

Photo
And of course we must include a picture of these two.. ;)

The day Abby left, my mom and I flew up to Minnesota to visit my aunt and her family!! What a fun time we had. It was so nice for me to be able to see my aunt...11 years later. Waiting that long to see each other, from now on, is definitely out of the question!! Miss her and her family so much!!!

Busy. Busy. Busy.

While my brother and I are back from Wisconsin, we still have a ton of things on our "To Do" list. Dougie works 5 days out of the week, I'm working ahead in some school for next year, we've had two little visitors over at our house for 3 and a half days (Riley and Caroline), I'm working a few weeks this summer, and now I'm getting packed and ready to head off on a youth trip with the church! I am very excited and can't wait to make some more memories with friends.
Summer days keep me busy, so there isn't much time to sit down and write a post. I will try to get some written as soon as I have the time to put my thoughts together! :)
In the mean time I will leave you with just a few of my favorite pictures from our trip to Wisconsin! We miss the Romano family terribly and cannot wait to see them the next time we are all able to be together again!

So thankful for these girls!

A Little Break

Just waned to stop in and let everyone know that this week my grandparents are in town, and then Dougie and I leave on Friday....heading to Wisconsin for 11 days!!! We can't wait to see Abby and her family!!
There will be absence on my blog for a little bit, but I will be returning right away when I come back with pictures and more!! :)

On another note: I hope everyone had a excellent Mother's day! I certainly have been blessed with a wonderful mother. She does everything and anything she can for me. I will never forget the special times we have had together and the memories that we have made. I'm so thankful for the best mother!! My life would be so different without her, and I am so happy that I have her as my mom! I love you, Mom!
